HHS is the federal agency charged with enhancing the health and well-being of all Americans through sustained advances in science, public health, and social services.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is one of HHS’ 11 operating divisions; it promotes the economic and social well-being of families, children, individuals, and communities. One of the many ways ACF achieves this vital mission is through its Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), which provides new populations with the opportunity to achieve their full potential in the United States. ORR programs provide people in need with critical resources to assist them in becoming integrated members of American society.

Our Culture of Caring is the foundation of HHS programs, and HHS employees are some of the most dedicated and passionate people in the federal government.

Raising your hand to indicate your willingness to become a detailee is a way for you to become part of HHS' Culture of Caring and to make a difference.

What Is a Detailee?

Details are temporary reassignments of existing federal employees from their routine job responsibilities into other roles for a specified period. Employees who perform these details are called detailees. Past missions have included HHS priorities such as: the Pandemic Response to COVID-19; the Unaccompanied Children Mission, which cared for migrant children upon arriving in the United States while awaiting release to a sponsor; and the Operation Allies Welcome Mission, which resettled Afghan families within the United States. 

Becoming a detailee allows you to explore new opportunities, learn new skills, expand your network of fellow federal employees, and  have a direct, measurable impact on underserved populations.
