Project Title: Kuhohonu: Restoring the Righful Role of Native Communities as Navigator of Their Own Destinies through Community Planning and Capacity Building in East Maui, Hawai’i
Holani Hana, Inc. will increase stakeholder engagement in their strategic planning and decision-making processes while simultaneously building community capacity through an in-depth two-year community listening tour. Currently, Holani Hana recognizes many pathways to mission fulfillment, but a better understanding of what their community genuinely wants and needs is essential. By increasing stakeholder engagement and growing each communities capacity to identify, articulate, and communicate shared goals, all of East Maui will be able to engage in community-led, location-based initiatives effectively. Ultimately, this project aims to serve the local, statewide, and worldwide community through activities that foster Hawaiian cultural education.

Grantee: Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority
Project Title: Lighting the Way for Systemic Innovative Grants, Contracts and Inventory Management
Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority will improve the capacity and efficiency of the organization to manage supplies, contracts, and grants. This strategic plan initiative responds to the influx of donations, supplies, and funding related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent need for accountability reporting. Currently, tracking and reporting are done through a series of Excel files and databases, which do not dovetail with accounting software, causing duplication of data entry and many manual functions. Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority will improve capacity, time efficiencies, cost savings, error reductions, and increased accountability by procuring software to institutionalize inventory management, contracts management, and grants management. Ultimately, this project aims to ensure organizational sustainability by ensuring the wise use of the resources of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
