Osage Nation
Investment: $82,609
Success: The Osage Nation used ARP funds to develop a children’s book with a coinciding mobile application. They chose the story of The Coyote and The Bear for this project. This story is a part of their Ecos genre which focuses on sharing lessons through a cultural perceptive. They also decided to create YouTube videos of the book (Osage and English ) to ensure that all language learners will have access to the story regardless of their location and personal circumstances. The book is developed from 26 oil paintings, which were customized for this process. They printed 500 books and are in the process of finalizing their mobile application and website, which will serve as resource tools to accompany the book and YouTube videos. They have provided copies of the books to students in the immersion schools and early learning academy. They also provided copies of the book to their language teachers, school libraries, and homes with an Osage child present.
