Joe Bock
Acting Associate Commissioner and Deputy Associate Commissioner, Children’s Bureau
Joe Bock is the acting Associate Commissioner and the Deputy Associate Commissioner in the Children’s Bureau, part of the Administration on Children Youth and Families at HHS’ Administration for Children and Families (ACF). Bock has worked at ACF since 1993, first working in the Office of Family Assistance on AFDC (now TANF) policy. Prior to coming to the Children’s Bureau in 1996, Bock worked in the Family and Youth Services Bureau on the community schools and gang violence initiatives. He has been the deputy associate commissioner in the Children’s Bureau since 2002. Before entering federal service, Bock worked for 10 years in community mental health programs, as a medical social worker and a child protective services caseworker.
