SUBJECT:  Judicial Bench Cards for UIFSA and Hague Convention Cases

On January 1, 2017, the 2007 Hague Child Support Convention went into force in the United States. The implementing legislation is the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act 2008 (UIFSA). We want to provide state child support agencies with useful resources for judges, hearing officers, and other decision-makers on UIFSA and the Hague Child Support Convention.

OCSE has developed bench cards on the following Convention applications:

A Judicial Resources bench card lists judicial resources available from OCSE and other external sources on UIFSA, the Hague Child Support Convention, and international support.

Because most decision-makers hear few international support cases, these bench cards are a quick reference to the key information they need to resolve a particular support application. For each application, the bench card identifies the potential applicants, appropriate use of the application, form requirements, applicable law, and procedural issues.
