Thirty-four sub-recipients covering 86 counties will implement one of four evidence-based curricula along with the Youth Thrive framework. Sixty-two of these counties are predominantly rural, poor, and underserved. Choosing the Best, Positive Potential, and Wise Guys are implemented in school-based settings. Sub-recipients also provide teen leader programs, parent, and community education programs.

The adult-oriented curricula used includes It's That Easy with parents and Making Authentic Connections with mentors.

Locally determined SRAE curriculum include an optional parent and teacher training component and a community involvement component. There are eight curricula in use: Relationships Under Construction; TYRO Rites of Passage; Abstinence and Marriage Series; RSVP; Go for the Gold; REAL Essentials; For Keeps, and Choosing the Best. All are implemented in school-based settings, including after-school programs.

The state serves 31,000 youth in grades 5—12 (ages 10—19 years old). The program is being provided in schools and after-school programs, community-based organizations, and juvenile justice centers. The program is provided in counties that have been identified as high-risk counties based on epidemiological analysis using rates of teen pregnancy, teen birth, high school dropouts, STI incidence, and poverty.
