2024 Native Employment Works Regulations Tribal Consultation
OFA administers the Native Employment Works (NEW) Program, which enables eligible tribes to provide work-related activities to support individuals needing job readiness, job placement, and job retention services in their communities. The regulations that describe the requirements for tribes operating a NEW Program need to be updated to align with the authorizing legislation and current program practice. OFA held two virtual Tribal Consultations on February 5, 2024 and February 13, 2024.

2024 State TANF Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Tribal Consultation
OFA published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to amend the state TANF program regulations to strengthen the safety net and reduce administrative burden. The proposed regulatory changes are applicable to state TANF; however, tribes have expressed concern that changes such as the proposed Maintenance-of-Effort (MOE) calculations could affect funding for tribes and Tribal TANF programs. OFA held two virtual Tribal Consultations on January 22, 2024 and January 25, 2024.
