The Office of Family Assistance (OFA) would like to call your attention to a Federal Register notice published today that relates to the next phase of the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 (FRA) TANF Pilots.

The FRA authorized a new opportunity for states to pilot program performance and accountability measures in TANF. Pub. L. No. 118-5, § 302. The Trump Administration envisions the FRA pilots as a key opportunity to strengthen state accountability to the original core TANF values of work and self-sufficiency.  Because the Trump Administration’s priorities for the approach to work and performance measures in the pilot is so markedly different from the prior Administration, ACF will be issuing a new request for pilot proposals.

The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44. USC. 3501 et seq.) requires that agencies obtain Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval prior to requesting information from more than nine respondents. This FRA TANF Pilot application information collection request is subject to review and approval by OMB. The draft is available for public comment:

Alternatively, a copy can be obtained by sending an email to infocollection@acf.hhs.gov; all requests should be identified by the title of the information collection. Comments are due within 30 days of publication (by June 20, 2025) and should be emailed to infocollection@acf.hhs.gov for consideration by ACF.
