Who:
BreAnna is a single mother of four children.

When: Applied: 2020; Employed: 2021
BreAnna reached out to Project H.E.L.P. in Spring of 2020, but had trouble finding a class that would fit her schedule. BreAnna started certified nursing assistant (CNA) training in February 2021 and returned to her classes that March after taking a break to handle some medical complications. She completed her training and found a job in April.

Why: Job Security
Prior to enrolling in HPOG, BreAnna was unemployed for eight months, struggled with finding reliable childcare, and had low confidence with going back to school. She wanted to have job security for her children and provide a better life for them. Her family and friends were a great support system and encouraged BreAnna to join the HPOG program.

Where: Hastings, NE
BreAnna completed CNA training at Central Community College-Hastings in Hastings, NE. She obtained employment at Good Samaritan Village.

What: CNA
BreAnna completed the CNA program and plans to take the medical assistant (MA) training in the future to ladder up. She received supportive services such as tuition assistance, gas cards, work clothing, and success coaching. BreAnna works at the Good Samaritan Village earning $13 per hour, on a work schedule that accommodates her children.

“Project H.E.L.P. helped me gain confidence in myself and my academic ability. Sara, my success coach, was very motivating and made me believe in myself, always sending me encouraging messages when I wasn’t sure I could do it. Communication with teachers was also key to my success, they were very supportive and helpful.” - BreAnna
