Most frequently asked questions while preparing for or during emergency repatriation operations:

What role do states play in emergency repatriation?

When activated by OHSEPR to support an emergency repatriation operation, a state will execute its state emergency repatriation plan (SERP) to provide temporary assistance to returning eligible U.S. citizens at designated ports of entry.

We are updating our State Emergency Repatriation Plan (SERP) to match the new framework. Should we submit the new plan to OHSEPR for review?

OHSEPR can review a state’s SERP and offer feedback as needed.

When will OHSEPR provide information to selected states about the number of individuals evacuated by the Department of State for a specific emergency repatriation operation?

OHSEPR will provide information to the selected state as it becomes available.

What costs are reimbursable for emergency repatriation missions?

OHSEPR determines which costs are reasonable, allowable, and allocable and will provide reimbursement contingent upon the availability of funds. Any state activities in preparation for activating a SERP are not reimbursable unless specifically authorized by OHSEPR.
