Since 1991, NRCEC (formerly known as Head Start’s National Research Conference on Early Childhood) has highlighted cutting-edge research on families with low incomes raising young children.

The conference supports dialogue between researchers, policymakers, and program and administrative staff. This active dialogue strengthens education for young children, brings the latest information to those establishing national policies for families with low incomes, and contributes to the development of a meaningful research agenda in the early care and education field.

23rd Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency

RECS 2026 will be held in-person at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC, on May 20-22, 2026. 

RECS provides a valuable opportunity to hear the latest findings from evaluations of social welfare programs and policies, discuss ways to incorporate findings into the design and implementation of programs, and develop strategies for future evaluations.

The annual OPRE Innovative Methods Meeting convened scientists and research experts to advance critical topics in social science research methodology.
