In Search of Priority Topics for Short Research Products about Child Care and Early Education
Calling all state/territory leaders in the child care and early education (CCEE) field! Do you need a short summary of research on a topic? If so, we want to hear from you! Please email your ideas to researchtranslation@childtrends.org.
There is a vast amount of research available, and it can be time consuming to sort through, difficult to understand, and unclear how it applies to your everyday work. The Child Care and Early Education Policy and Research Analysis (CCEEPRA) Research Translation project was designed to develop and share short, easy-to-use research products that can help CCEE leaders make research-informed decisions that support young children and families. Our products are in a variety of formats (e.g., short written summaries, infographics, videos, slide decks) to address topics that are relevant for CCEE leaders. To find the products that we have developed so far, please visit the Research Highlights page on Research Connections.
We would like your help identifying topics to cover in the future.
We’re interested to hear your specific questions or topics for research summaries to help state/territory CCEE leaders. Please think about:
- Questions that state/territory CCEE leaders and their staff have
- Questions that CCEE leaders are often asked by staff in the legislature or Governor’s office
- Policy decisions that state/territory CCEE leaders and their teams expect to discuss in the coming year
Note that the more specific or narrow the question is, the easier it is to develop a short summary of the relevant research. In case it’s helpful in generating suggestions, here are some examples of questions we have addressed in products so far:
- What does “access” to CCEE mean?
- What does research tell us about families’ search for CCEE?
- What are research-based considerations for addressing trauma in CCEE systems?
You’re also welcome to tell us which formats you find most useful (e.g., infographics, videos, webinars).
You can share your ideas and needs for short research summaries by emailing researchtranslation@childtrends.org. It would be helpful if you would include your role (e.g., QRIS director, administrator for the Child Care and Development Fund).
The information you share will inform the Child Care and Early Education Policy and Research Analysis (CCEEPRA) Research Translation project that is funded by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation in the Administration for Children and Families.
