Transitional Foster Care (TFC)

TFC is short-term foster care that may be offered as an initial placement for these children:

  • Unaccompanied alien children under 13 years of age
  • Siblings with one sibling under 13 years of age
  • Teens who are pregnant or are parenting
  • Unaccompanied alien children with other special needs

TFC plays a crucial role in promoting the well-being of children who have experienced challenging circumstances. It provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can heal, grow, and transition to a stable future.

Provider Responsibilities

Unaccompanied alien children in TFC live in licensed foster homes and receive most services at a central location operated by TFC provider staff. TFC provider staff must be available to accept children 24/7. While in care, children have access to the essential activities and services listed below.
