The Employer Engagement Program (EEP) funds local organizations to create networks of employers for individuals who can access the program for up to five years after qualifying for an ORR-eligible status. EEP recipients work with these networks to develop workplace-based training programs for new employees. The training programs focus on English language and other job-related skills.
The EEP’s employer-led, workplace-based training programs provide unique opportunities for arrivals to establish familiarity with the U.S. workplace, while learning job-specific skills, and strengthening their English language ability. Since it can be challenging for newly resettled employees to participate in job trainings, EEP will help employers to design trainings to suit staff needs. Participating in these training programs prepares individuals for successful long-term employment and professional advancement, while reducing barriers to allow for their integration into the U.S. workforce.
Services
EEP services may include:
- Workplace-based English language training
- Job skills training designed and implemented in partnership with local employers
- Personalized professional goal planning
Funding
This is a competitive grant program, with grants awarded for a three-year project period. ORR supports EEP projects implemented by a variety of public and private non-profit organizations. Through Congressional funding, some recipients specifically focus on recent Afghan arrivals, while others serve all ORR-eligible populations.
