This month, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) observed World Day Against Child Labor by spotlighting and encouraging those, who could, to join the Within and Beyond Our Borders: Collective Action to Address Hazardous Child Labor organized by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) on June 12, 2023. Many states operate large and complex administrative data systems that include information from multiple human services programs. Federal dollars to support planning; design, development, and implementation; and maintenance and operations of such systems must be allocated across programs. The vehicle for states to request federal funding is the Advance Planning Document (APD). In the APD, states outline their project details, applicable procurements, and requested funds. 

ACF’s Tribal Consultation Policy includes eliminating health and human service disparities, ensuring that access to critical health and human services is maximized, and advancing the social, physical, and economic status of Indians. To achieve these goals, and to the extent practicable and permitted by law, it is essential that Federally-recognized Indian Tribes and ACF engage in open, continuous, and meaningful consultation.

The United States Department of Labor (DOL), Wage and Hour Division (WHD), and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) establishing a collaborative relationship to enhance and maximize the wellbeing of children and enforcement of the federal child labor laws. The parties are forming this partnership to encourage greater coordination between them through information sharing, training, and education to further the goal of preventing and responding to instances of child labor exploitation and child labor trafficking.
