A unique government-to-government relationship exists between American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribes and the federal government. This relationship is grounded in the United States Constitution, numerous treaties, statutes, federal case law, regulations, and Executive Orders, as well as political, legal, moral, and ethical principles. To support this ongoing relationship, ACF has established an Agency Workgroup titled the Native American Affairs Advisory Council (NAAAC) and the ACF Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC).

ACF Programs that Fund Tribes and Native American Organizations

ACF provides assistance for tribal nations and grantees.

ACF’s programs awarded $1.76 billion in supplemental COVID-19 funding to tribes and Native communities. These funds are in addition to the more than $1 billion the agency awards to tribes and Native communities each year.

Within the first 100 days of the Biden-Harris Administration, ACF has taken action to stabilize the child care industry, support children and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, provide desperately needed economic relief, restore a child welfare focus at the border, and advance racial equity and supporting underserved communities.  

The Office of Child Care has developed this guidance in order to provide Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Lead Agencies with information to assist them in meeting government-wide reporting requirements mandated by the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (Transparency Act or FFATA).
