SUBJECT: USPS Contact Information for Child Support Agencies - Updated

The United States Postal Service (USPS) updated their contact information for child support-related requests and questions.

Verifications of Employment and Health Benefits

Child support agencies should contact The Work Number (TALX) at 800-996-7566 (TTY: 800-424-0253) to request employment or income information. 

If you cannot get the information you need from The Work Number, you can mail or fax a request to the Human Resources Shared Service Center (HRSSC).

The HRSSC will complete your request within seven to 14 business days and return it via first class mail. They will not fax or email a completed verification of employment or health benefits.

Medical Support 

Send the National Medical Support Notice (NMSN) to the Involuntary Deductions Unit (IDU):

Self Plus One & Family Coverage

USPS provides the employee with a copy of the NMSN. If the employee does not respond to the IDU within 14 days, the IDU will automatically enroll them in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plan 112 at the cost listed on the Office of Personnel Management website.

The Postal Service does not handle cost analysis. For information on the health plans available to postal workers go to www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance .
