Introduction

The Behavioral Interventions to Advance Self-Sufficiency (BIAS) project undertook a diagnosis and design process that resulted in tailored interventions specific to each of the project’s sites. While these interventions responded to sites’ unique challenges, they addressed common bottlenecks that various human services settings may share. The SIMPLER framework highlights key behaviorally informed techniques that were used in BIAS and may be useful to other human services programs with similar contexts.

This overview presents the framework and illustrates an application of each concept in the human services program context.

The framework includes seven behavioral concepts:

Social influence
Implementation prompts
Making deadlines
Personalization
Loss aversion
Ease
