ORR Nondiscrimination Notice

Publication Date: July 15, 2024
Current as of:

The Office of Refugee Resettlement’s Unaccompanied Alien Children’s (UAC) Bureau must not unlawfully discriminate based on race, color, national origin, disability, religion, age, or sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity) (collectively referred to here as “Characteristics”). As grantees and contractors of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), ORR care providers must adhere to the Civil Rights Obligations1 that prohibit the exclusion of children from participating in, or receiving the benefits of, the UAC Bureau solely based on the Characteristics enumerated above. Care providers must serve the best interests of every child in ORR custody, giving every child an equal opportunity to access UAC Program services in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs without prejudice against their Characteristics. ORR’s Nondiscrimination Notice incorporates by reference the HHS Nondiscrimination Notice, which is available online at https://www.hhs.gov/civil-rights/for-individuals/nondiscrimination/index.html .

To report concerns regarding a possible violation of ORR’s Nondiscrimination Notice, please notify ORR by emailing uchearings@acf.hhs.gov.
